Play Mat

Standard

“H” is for….hate I tell ya!! I really do not like this style of mats…you know those rubber/plastic jigsaw mats that have the numbers or alphabet letters you can take out…yea, THAT mat. It’s THE mat that gets used my our cats to sharpen/clean their claws and the one place where I hate my toddler to pee pee…This thing is a pain to clean!!! “Just wipe it with a damp cloth” my ass !
This was a great mat before my cats got their claws in it, and before our toddler started potty training…and even before she realized that you can take the thing apart…coz you know what mummy, YOU are the one who is going to have to put it all back again, coz little one is too small to do it yet…joy, no HATE. I am in the process of giving this damn thing its last wash and getting rid of it.

2.5 Year Old

Standard

The talking has taken off and just keeps on getting better and better! Got a full on “I love you Mummy” today! “No Touching!”… LOVES swimming! Can count to 10. We are working on colours too, works well when asking her “Where is the…black hat?” after having asked her to point to the colour black. Now have to mention that we got our hands on some awesome Dora The Explorer Numbers and Colors Flap cards (Learning Horizons) and she watches Winnie The Pooh’s 123 often and these two things have really helped with her counting! She will point at stuff and just start counting them, or she will count while climbing the stairs!
Loves to paint. Started to eat more cheese. Still holding on to a rail when climbing stairs up and down. She is a BIG Pingu fan! We are still teaching her Afrikaans, English and German and it looks like she is talking way more English. Witch is fine, she seems to understand me when I talk to her in Afrikaans…and the German is there…she does need to hear a bit more of it I think. When we go out she will great people with ‘Morgen’ any time of the day! haha
We did not get a Kindergarden place for her for this year Aug. so by the looks of it she will be starting Kindergarden next year hopefully when she is 3.5. Thats fine for us, but thinks she would have liked to go to Kindergarden and hang out with kids her age or around her age instead of Mummy and Daddy the whole time!
I’m about 6 months pregnant and it can be hard work some days taking care of a active toddler! Looking forward to holding a tiny little baby again.
And looking forward to seeing what our first born makes of the new arrival haha

Getting a Two Year Old to Eat…

Standard

I do not make our two year old sit at the table and eat a plate full of food, cause who wants to fight the whole time right !?! So instead I offer her little bits of foods throughout the day, keeping track in my head of what she has had and hopefully end the day with her having consumed at least a veg (or two),  fruit and some MORE fruit if she has not touched any veggies, protein, bread and drinks. And that’s that. No fuss. No fighting. Just go with it! Some days she eats a lot, other days she eats hardly anything…we are teething, its hot here at the moment so who want to eat heaps anyways…honestly, just go with it man. Don’t panic. You can do it !!

Second Pregnancy

Standard

So, here we go again!!! I’m 15 weeks along already and felt it ‘safe’ to post about our new addition that will be arriving mid November.  Have waited on announcing this new addition as we lost twins about 8 weeks in last October…and it was very sad. I took photos of my belly every week from week 6 to 14 as I read so many times that one pops out so much faster in the second pregnancy than the first…well, I tell ya! At 15 weeks, I look like I looked when I was 6 months along with our first born!

Here is a look at my belly for you. Top Left is 6 weeks and Bottom Right 14 weeks. Two of the weeks are doubles…and did not see it as a problem as there was no real big difference in my belly size.

Not a huge difference right, now check my 15 week belly man! Crazy!!

Today I feel pregnant and I look pregnant and I want to shout it out to the world !!

Tomorrow we will be 4 months along (16 weeks). I have felt the little one move around 14 weeks. Not every day, but over the two weeks I have felt the baby move 3 times so far. Also got myself a City bike (because one sits strait up and do not lean forward, so lots of space for growing belly) with a hanger for our two year old and so far so good. I feel super. Taking it easy and really just doing it for the fun of it. Summer time here in Germany is great and they have awesome bike paths.

19 Weeks pregnant. It’s summer time over here in Germany and today is so hot! Sleeping is mission as every turn pulls on my tummy some how…ai…experienced some fake labour pains/cramps over the weekend…thinking it had to do with the Habanero hot chilli we ate 😉 Aaaa yes, talking about food, geez I feel like eating and never stopping some days!?!?! 😀

Would really like not to gain so much weight as I did with my first pregnancy so really have to pay attention to what I stuff down …boy is that hard sometimes!

Here is a pic of me at 19 weeks. Kinda loving the fact (now that we are well past 3 months) that I’m showing so much! It’s the second best part of being pregnant…feeling the little one move takes first spot.

Had our second baby scan today and was hoping to see what we will be having… our Dr. started off by saying that its a Girl and then later on in the scan she thought she saw something but could not get a good look again because of the little ones position…so, she says 70% boy… hopefully we will be able to be sure before we give birth, but until then we will be working on names for a girl and a boy. Everything is looking good. Little one is swallowing as we could see the tummy space and there is kidney function and the brain is looking good too and there is some bottom brain thing present that means that there is no spinal problems.

Here is a pic of our little one at 20 weeks and 3 days sucking a thumb!

I’m now 23 weeks along…look like I did when I was 30 weeks along with our first born! Super tired the last couple of days…can’t keep my eyes open!! O man, and do I feel big! Hahaha only about 4 more months to go!

Hey Hey !! Only 100 days to go!

Here I am at 25 weeks…two days away from week 26:

Its a BOY !!

Found out on Wednesday that we are expecting a little boy! I’m 7 months pregnant at the moment.

Cadence is going to have a little brother!! Totally unexpected! I was not expecting our third scan to be done on Wednesday. But glad we had it! My Dr said: “Ja, it is very clear what you are having…O’ I told you what you are having right?? O, well here…what do you see?? Yes, its a boy”

Feeling ok. Back pain and cannot get a good nights sleep. Have two exams coming up in October that I need to start preparing for. It is a lot of work to go through. Have time, but should get onto it a.s.a.p !

Don’t think Cadence really knows about the baby. We do ask her about where the baby is and she sometimes points to my tummy saying “There’s the baby!” Think she will only really ‘get it’ once her little brother has been born and she gets to hold him for the first time!

So…not long to go! Really looking forward to holding our little boy!

30 weeks pregnant. Asked my midwife if I am still allowed to ride my bike with a kiddie hanger for our 2.5 year old and she said that its fine. Actually much better to have a bike hanger for the little one instead of having her sit on my bike in the back. So that was nice to hear. Really trying to keep my weight under control this pregnancy as I picked up heaps with my first. Our little boy is moving heaps and thankfully not kicking my ribs to bits…yet.

Have to call the hospital some time this week to make an appointment and sort out all the paper work before we give birth. Took about and hour and a half last time with Cadence.

Feeling good. Mood can be low some days and not much I can do about that. Have been having bad leg cramps so taking Magnesium supplements.

Yea…looking forward to holding the little man! We are still trying to find the perfect name for him. Hard to find a name for a boy!

33 weeks pregnants. We have a name for our little man! It hits the spot 😉

A little bit stressed at the moment with two exams coming up fast next week…have been trying really hard to get down with the books today….would LOVE to just get in bed and read my book ‘A Dance with Dragons’ by George R.R. Martin! Not long to go before baby brother’s birth! So, husband is looking for a new job. Got an offer yesterday, but wanting to keep our options open he is still heading out to two more interviews this week….Kinda nice knowing his got a job in the bag…so, not long to wait any more before we know where we will be living next year. But for now…one step at a time. First get my exams sorted, then get my Hospital Paper work sorted….should start sorting out my Hospital bag too…then to give birth and move. Yea, we can do this!!!

Wow…have now reached 38 weeks (and one day) and I am so ready for our little man to come! AND we are expecting a full moon tomorrow…interesting!!! Hope the moon does some magic and help our baby along 😉

Have started packing stuff away we are not making use of and it feels good to get rid of stuff we really don’t use. All good!

Hoping that all this packing and moving helps to bring baby boy. REALLY do not want to waddle around for another 3 weeks!

Sleeping is a pain, literally. My hip bones are so sore sometimes…and then there is the belly and baby and our almost 3-year-old that has taken to sleeping with us in our bed and taking up most of the space…ai…O, and don’t forget our two cats! One really full bed at 2 in the morning as driven me to go sleep on our couch more than once, and that is kinda super comfy at the moment! Thank goodness for small blessings right!?

Have checked in at the hospital, so that is sorted…had my hospital back packed, but now all the bits are all over the flat…now as I understand it, it’s when this is the case, baby will come…you know, when you are least prepared for his/her arrival…haha

AAaaa, yes. I would like it to be over and sometimes I do wonder about just staying pregnant for a bit longer, but that changes really fast when I try to clean or even breath…it is time. He must come.

Now said the same thing when I was this far along with our first and she ended up coming at 40 weeks and 6 days. Arggggg….trying not to think about it and REALLY hoping this full moon thing proves to be accurate!

Miles Häusler, Born on the 19th of November 2011 at 8:49, weighing 4020g and 56cm tall.

Took just as long as his sister and ended up getting an epi, just like his sister.

Was so glad when he was finally born and I could hold him.

From “Baaaakie” to Milk

Standard

Talking is slowly taking on a more understandable side…still have to have her repeat something till I finally get what she is on about. The latest cool word: Balloolooloon

Our little girl is now 27 months old. We have started potty training… :-S

She willingly climbs the stairs to our flat up and down and sometimes with no hand on the rail !! Her teeth are still taking their sweet time to come out. Her fangs have finally started to push through.  Soon she will have 6 on top and 6 on the bottom.

Have seriously considered dropping Afrikaans and just talking English to our little girl. She only hears Afrikaans from me, and the rest (or most) comes from English T.V. shows, English books and Mummy and Daddy talking to each other. And she can say waaaaaaaay more in English than in Afrikaans or German. Talking is not super smooth, but she understands my Afrikaans and her Dad’s English just fine.

LOVES Peppa Pig (British T.V. show) and Pooh!! And she is a big Ponyo fan too.

We get:”O dear” and she counts to 10. LOVES her multi coloured stuffed Dinosaur that we paid 50 c for from our local second hand shop.

Love being her Mummy !! Feel so blessed to have her.

“Come”

Standard

The last few days our little two year old Cadence has been telling us to “come”…
and last night was the first that she got sick all over me…and all I could do was hold her, facing me…covered in her sick…and tell her that everything is going to be ok. Poor thing! She is still a wee bit sick today, but think she will be all good tomorrow.

2 Year Old In The House!!

Standard

Wow…the words are now coming out fast! A grand total of around 37 words by the time our little girl turned two. She also tells us now:”Go away”…and for those who know the British T.V. show In The Night Gardent…when we say to her:”Upsy Daisy”…she says:”Daisy Doo” . Loves to watch her Disney movies!! LOVES Beauty and the Beast and asks to watch ‘Beat’. Milk is still ‘Baakie’. Counting is going really well…we get:”One, two, three, four…three!” 😀

Also, when we ask her :” Barbie movie??… Mermaid, Three Musketeers or Fashion?”  we get told: “Tea” , yes Three Musketeers it is!

She still takes a nap during the day, but we get the odd day or two where she pushes through and ends up going to bed nice and early! She had her first hair cut just before she turned two and sat very still on the chair while her hair was being cut…so proud of her!! O’ and when she wants to get to something on a counter…or wants you to stop chasing her or tickeling her..she will tell us:”Cuggel!” Sneaky!! OOOooo and she loves to hand out kisses. Held my face the other day in her two little warm hands and just kept on planting them!! She does this sing song:”Kaaai” when you ask her something. Still not so keen on riding her Bobby Car, so we did not get her a Laufrad…that thing that looks like a bike but without the pedals. Maybe later this year she would like one…will see.

21 Month Old

Standard

Wow, she is amazing!

She has been able to climbe the stairs (up) by herself while holding on to a railing.

She now also kinda says the following words: cuddle, tickle, kyk (watch), Tea, Juice, Mooi, Piesang, Apple, Bad, Brood en Poep.

She is getting better at running.

When we ask her to bring her shoes she does…usually the frilly looking pink ones hehe

Likes to hang Mummies long necklaces around her neck.

She now has10 teeth with two more pushing through.

Still does not like tomatoes.

When we tell her:”Skoon doek!” she runs to her changing table to have her diaper changed (most of the time mind!).

LOVES watching In The Nightgarden, Barbie and The Wiggles.

LOVES giving kisses…the T.V. her teddies and playmobil dolls, cats, Mummy and Daddy.

She is going to a playgroup Tuesday mornings, Turnen on Wednesday afternoons, and a another playgroup on Friday mornings.

We have a seasonal Zoo ticket and we have been going often. What makes it so nice is that she can run around as she likes and be safe.

AND it looks like she is getting ready to stop napping!!! How very very sad for Mummy hehe

Pulls funny faces !

She is awesome and we are so happy to have her in our lives!!
